Diab tackles failure rate in Arabic language exams.

Summary: Caretaker Education Minister Hassan Diab discussed Tuesday with other relevant officials the issue of the overwhelming failure rate of grade nine students in Arabic language classes.

BEIRUT: Caretaker Education Minister Hassan Diab discussed Tuesday with other relevant officials the issue of the overwhelming failure rate of grade nine students in Arabic language classes.

Diab noted that the Arabic language test was compatible with the grade nine curriculum, and some of its featured questions were even mentioned in the exams from previous years.

The officials attributed the high failure rates to students, their parents and the school administration for not devoting proper attention to the subject, saying the results this year were no different from the last five years.

Diab commissioned the Education Bureau and relevant bodies to come up with a plan to improve on the subject beginning in the upcoming school year.
