Dhs94m upgrade for Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Park.
Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Park, one of Abu Dhabi's most popular open spaces, is to get a Dhs94 million upgrade just a year after it reopened to the public following a major redevelopment.
Abu Dhabi Municipality said the park, formerly known as Khalidiya Ladies Park, will be turned into a 6,900sqm open entertainment park with green spaces stretching over 24,035sqm.
The project, which started in June 2016 and is slated for completion in July 2018, includes renovations of the park to meet the needs and aspirations of the community.
The project includes key services such as surface parking spaces, an eye-catching frontal design of the car park, basement parking lot, bathrooms, and a mosque. The project will be implemented in phases, starting with the basement, followed by landscaping and architecture designs at a time.
After completion, the park will boast of a variety of entertainment options and services including playgrounds, a cultural arena, an outdoor market, organic food market with a terrace, retail suites, food and beverage outlets and outdoor cafes.
It also features an interactive fountain with outdoor seating areas, a footpath, cycling track, sightseeing wings, and a three-metre elevated floor.
The park in Mushrif area was opened first to women and children and is one of the oldest and largest green urban areas in Abu Dhabi.
