Devlin: Taming Virgil a tall order.

Byline: MICHAEL GANNON

M ICHA EL DEVL IN reckons Virgil van Dijk is van Dijk is V the man most Scottish defenders look up to - and not just because the Dutchman towers over them.

The Hamilton centre back rates the Celtic star as one of the best in the business but hopes he has a day to forget against Accies tomorrow.

Devlin said: "Van Dijk is Dijk is V a guy you look up to and think, 'If I can get close to him then I won't be a bad player'.

"He's quick and strong. There aren't many strikers in the league that get the better of him physically.

"The football side of his game is excellent as well. He's one of the best players in the league. His future will be at a higher level. Jason Denayer is in the same mould too."

Accies shocked Celtic at Parkhead earlier in the season and Devlin is hoping lightning strikes twice to give Martin Canning a memorable first win as player-boss.

The New Douglas Park side have gone seven games without a win and Devlin said: "We're better than we're showing at the moment.

"It's a coincidence the way results have been since the manager came in as he hasn't changed a thing about our preparation for games. It's purely down to us on the pitch."
