TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 15, 1996--Devine Entertainment Corp. (NASDAQBB:DVNNF; Alberta Exch.: DVN) announced that its series of children's films, "The Composers' Specials", has received a Gemini nomination for Best Children's Program or Series from the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television.

The nomination continues the Devine tradition of award-winning children's programming.

Devine, a rapidly growing Canadian entertainment company, won a Gemini in 1990 for its production of "Raffi In-Concert with The Rise and Shine Band". Their television program of "Beethoven Lives Upstairs" won the 1993 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Children's Program. Most recently, Devine's "Bizet's Dream" won the Video Magic Award as one of the 10 Best Children's Videos of 1995 as well as the Alliance for Children and Television's Award for Excellence as Best Drama.

"The Composers' Specials" comprise "Bizet's Dream", "Bach's Fight for Freedom", "Liszt's Rhapsody", "Strauss: The King of 3/4 Time", "Rossini's Ghost" and "Handel's Last Chance". They air on HBO in the United States and on Family Channel in Canada and are distributed as home video and CD audio by Sony Classical. Each of these hour-long specials revolves around the relationship between a child and a great classical composer, providing innovative alternative programming for family audiences. "Rossini's Ghost", the next drama in the series, will premiere on the Family Channel Sunday, Feb. 25 at 8:00 p.m., with "Liszt's Rhapsody" premiering on HBO March 1, at 7:00 p.m. EST.

Devine Entertainment's series was produced with the participation of HBO, Family Channel, the Maclean Hunter TV Fund, The Shaw Cable Children's Programming Initiative, the COGECO Program Development Fund, CFCF-12 (the Multimedia Group of Canada), the Ontario Film Investment Program and Sony Classical Film and Video, New York.
