Devils hang on to beat the Panthers.
THREE second period goals, scored by Welshmen Chris Jones and Matthew Myers plus Canadian Joey Haddad, swept Cardiff Devils to victory against Nottingham Panthers at the National Ice Arena.
Now, after last night's Elite League home clash with Fife Flyers, Devils turn to Wednesday's Challenge Cup semi-final second leg against Coventry Blaze at the Big Blue Tent (7.30pm).
Devils lead 4-1 after their cup semi-final first leg and the winners over two games will play Shef-field or Nottingham in the final.
After a goalless first period in Nottingham, Devils' powerplay produced the first goal when Haddad blasted a shot past Mattias Modig in net for the Panthers at 27 minutes 39 seconds.
Jones scored with PANTHERS .................... 2 DEVILS........................... 3 Myers drawing the lone assist at 28-42 to double the lead and then Myers scored one of his own at 38-08, his 13th of the season, to make it 3-0 after two periods.
The third period was all Nottingham as they outshot Devils 14-3 and scored two goals.
Robert Farmer, 48-48, pulled one back, but then goalie Ben Bowns took charge, turning aside everything the Panthers threw at him.
With Trevor Hendrikx in the penalty box for holding the stick, Panthers scored on the powerplay to make it 3-2 through Brandon Benedict 10 seconds from the end.
But it was too little, too late as the Devils hung on for the 3-2 win over the Panthers.
