Development work completed in Zone 3- 4 of Regi, possession to be handed over in April-Bilour.

PESHAWAR, January 19, 2010 (Balochistan Times): NWFP Senior Minister, Bashir Ahmad Bilour Tuesday informed provincial assembly that development work has been completed in zone 3 & 4 of Regi Lalama Model Township and government will hand over possession of the plots in these two phases to the owners in April 2010. This announcement was made by Senior Minister while responding to a joint call attention notice moved by about six members including MPAs, Javed Abbasi, Israrullah Khan Gandapur, Sikandar Sherpao, Nighat Orakzai, Zamin Khan and Zahir Shah. The movers, in their call attention notice, apprised the house that government servants who had submitted price of plots in Regi Lalma Model Town in 1997 have not been granted ownership and they are greatly concerned about the future of the project and the amount they had submitted. Bashir Bilour said present government has evinced keen interest in the Township, the work on which was initiated in 1989, but still it is not completed. He said since Zone 1, 2 & 5 of the project are located near tribal area of Khyber Agency, therefore there was a dispute over the ownership of the land among the government and tribal elders. They government, he added, revised the amount of the project from existing Rs. Seven billion to Rs. 24 billion with the objective of resolving the dispute with tribal people by paying them additional amount. However, he continued, the government also concentrated on completion of development work in undisputed land of Zone 3 & 4 of the project and within few months work on the electricity and gas supply has been completed. He said the Chief Minister, Amir Haider Hoti also took personal interest in the project and called meetings of high ups of PESCO and SNGPL and directed them to forthwith complete work on electricity and gas supply. Presently, Bashir Bilour said, roads have been completed in two zone of Regi Model Town while electricity and gas have been supplied. He assured the house that government will hand over possession of plots in Zone 3 & 4 of the Township to owners in April 2010 to start construction of houses. While the dispute of ownership with tribal elders will also be resolved very soon because the government has earmarked amount for this purpose. On this occasion, Speaker NWFP Assembly Kiramatullah Khan Chagharmati, also directed NWFP Senior Minister to give special attention to the project and complete it at the earliest because it is prime importance and a lot of people have attached hopes with it for fulfilling their requirement of proper residence.
