Alpenrsli Mountain Lodge The Alpenrsli Mountain Lodge in Klosters has been extensively renovated and an extension added. The building, built as a rustic chalet in 1875, has retained its original character. The former six rooms have been renovated, refurnished and bathroom/WC integrated. The extension houses another three rooms, including a family room. The restaurant has been enlarged from 20 to 70 seats, where Jos Keurenntjes offers fresh regional cuisine with Graubunden and Swiss specialties at affordable prices. bmibaby bmibaby Offers Cheap Flights to Two New Ski Holiday Destinations. On 16 December 2011 bmibaby took off to the first of two new ski holiday destinations from East Midlands Airport. The low cost airline commenced flights from East Midlands Airport to Chambery on 16 December 2011 and will start flying to Toulouse on 23 December 2011. Taking skiers and snowboarders to the gateway of the French Alps, bmibaby will operatecheap flights to Chambery on Monday and Friday. After Christmas flights will operate on Saturday and Sunday. The airline will also fly to Toulouse up to twice a week, offering convenient flights to the Pyrenees mountain range. bmibaby expects to carry more than 15,000 customers to Chambery and Toulouse during the ski season. Julian Carr, managing director, bmibaby, said: "We are delighted to be operating cheap flights to Toulouse and Chambery from East Midlands Airport. As the gateways to the best French ski resorts both in the Alps and the Pyrenees, the new routes will enhance our appeal to skiers and snowboarders. "With convenient flight times, low fares and a great service guaranteed, we are confident the routes will prove very popular, perfectly complementing our existing ski destinations from the Midlands." Davos Five gourmet restaurants are opening in DavosO new Hotel Grischa at the start of the winter season. Hotel Grischa, directly opposite the Davos Platz railway station, opened on Dec. 1. After two years of planning and renovation, the four-star superior hotel has been created from two tradition-rich hotels -- the Bahnhof Terminus and Hotel Caprice. On entering the lobby, guests are greeted by a huge light sculpture of 1,400 hand-cast Murano glass pendants, weighing a total of four tons. The walls are clad with old timber from Graubunden and San Bernadino broken granite. Hotel Grischa offers nine types of accommodation in 55 rooms and 38 suites, from single rooms to the 130-square-meter PresidentOs Suite. The gastronomy concept with five restaurants is varied. The Pulsa serves regional cuisine with local products, the Fondue Stube offers raclette and fondue, Restaurant Monta specializes in dishes from the charcoal grill, and the Leonto is an exclusive gourmet restaurant. The Golden Dragon Chinese restaurant opened its doors one year ago. Star Chef Kurt Jaussi holds responsibility for the quality of the cuisine. Dec 27, 2011

Hilton Hotels Hilton expands DoubleTree chain with 2 London hotels. Hilton Worldwide has repositioned two London hotels from the recently acquired Mint Hotels chain to its DoubleTree by Hilton brand. The repositioning of the properties -- the 583-room DoubleTree by Hilton London-Tower of London and the 460-room DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel London-Westminster -- precedes a planned conversion of the rest of the former Mint Hotels into either DoubleTrees or Hilton Garden Inns under Hilton's HHonors program. Leningradskaya Hotel Moscow hotel landmarks emerge as proud rivals once again. The Leningradskaya Hotel opened in Moscow in 1954, raising the bar on Soviet opulence with its chandeliers and gilded gates. The Hotel Ukraina trumped its smaller rival three years later, becoming the tallest hotel in Europe. The hotel landmarks were two of the "seven sisters" in Moscow: Skyscrapers built to give the city a superpower skyline. The hotels fell into decay by the 1990s, but they have emerged in recent years as standard setters for the hospitality industry. Dec 26, 2011

Mandarin Oriental, Lufthansa Airlines compete primarily on price, but they still keep trying to differentiate themselves with service. The latest example of that is LufthansaOs newly announced partnership with the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group. First and business class passengers traveling from the airlineOs 17 U.S. gateways to Germany will select from dishes especially created by award-winning chefs at Mandarin Oriental properties in San Francisco, New York and Miami. The partnership is part of the Lufthansa OStar ChefsO program, which began 12 years ago and consists of imaginative in-flight menus created by top chefs from all over the world. The menu features creations by chefs from the following hotels -- Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco, Executive Sous Chef Annie Hongkham; Mandarin Oriental, New York, Executive Chef Toni Robertson; and Mandarin Oriental, Miami, Chef de Cuisine Joel Huff. All menu offerings arrive fresh onboard. The first menus will be from Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco and will feature dishes such as Dungeness crab and avocado salad, served with lemongrass gazpacho dressing; and braised beef short ribs, accompanied by fava bean pure with wasabi and red cabbage slaw in first class. Business class selections will include vegetable nasi goreng, a stir-fried dish spiced with tamarind and chilies, or roasted breast of chicken with savory bread pudding and tarragon jus. Radisson Hotels The Russian ski resort area of Sochi, site of the 2014 Winter Olympics, continues what may be the largest tourism driven transformation in the world today from a regional tourist hub into a global tourism destination. Massive developments are underway to improve the infrastructure and create new and modern attractions, including theme parks, stadiums and enhanced ski facilities. The Rezidor Hotel Group will open the 500-room Radisson Blu Resort & Congress Hotel, Sochi in early 2013. The property will be the first hotel project built within the frame of preparation for the Winter Olympics in 2014. Situated directly on the Black Sea, the resort will offer signature Radisson Blu amenities such as complimentary high-speed Internet access. Radisson Blu Sochi will also offer an all-day restaurant, two specialty restaurants, two bars and a nightclub. In addition, the 161,000-square-foot congress center will include a 16,000-square-foot banquet hall, numerous conference and meeting rooms, and a dedicated press center. Leisure facilities will include indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness center, tennis courts and a kids club. Radisson Blu Resort & Congress Hotel, Sochi will be a year-round destination. In summer, the nearby beaches will welcome sun-friendly families. In winter, SochiOs Olympic ski slopes will be within easy reach via a planned high-speed rail. During spring and autumn, the hotelOs substantial congress center will accommodate conferences, delegations and other events. SochiOs main stadium will host the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals. With such ambitious plans, the Sochi area has become a focus for RezidorOs business development. The group already operates the Radisson Lazurnaya Hotel, Sochi. Signed projects under development include two ski resorts in nearby Rosa Khutor (Radisson and Park Inn by Radisson), and two Park Inn by Radisson hotels in the city center of Sochi. Dec 27, 2011

Turmhotel Victoria The Turmhotel Victoria in Davos Dorf has been updated and a floor added. This summer, the four-star hotel at the entrance to Davos has been given a Belle Etage with 17 new rooms, a penthouse and superior deluxe suites, offering views of the Graubunden mountain world. The hotel now has a total of 97 rooms and the restaurant area has also been updated. The new head chef is Matthias Pawlik. Dec 27, 2011
