Northern India[sup.1]s Ministry of Tourism has joined with Indian Railways and the Punjab government to launch a [sup.3]Palace on Wheels[sup.2] tourist train. The train will visit popular destinations including Amritsar, Dharamshala, Anandpur Sahib, Patiala, Kurukshetra, Jaipur, Agra and Delhi in a week-long itinerary. The train project will likely take two years before it starts accepting passengers. The train is targeted at premium-end clientele and the coaches will be equipped with five-star facilities including a spa, restaurant, lounge bar, cyber cafe, gym, beauty salon and library. The train will be manufactured at Kapurthala rail coach factory, with the cost shared by the railroad industry, the Punjab government and the tourism ministry. Star Princess

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom and other city officials officially welcomed the Star Princess to the city[sup.1]s newly expanded dry-dock at Pier 70. The cruise ship will undergo around-the-clock mechanical, navigational and interior upgrades during its 13-day stay. The ship is 952 feet long, 118 feet wide, 109,000 tons, and holds 1,200 crew members and as many as 3,100 passengers. Grand Turk Cruise Center reopened on Oct. 8, welcoming the Carnival Destiny as the first call since the island was hit by Hurricane Ike on Sept. 7. Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin is giving one guest and their family their own presidential vacation. Walt Disney World

Disney's Mickey Mouse Jack-o[sup.1]-Lantern and the Town Square Christmas Tree will be the symbols of celebration for their respective holidays at Disneyland this fall. The fall season kicked off with a private party in Disneyland for teen sensation Miley Cyrus. [sup.3]Miley's Sweet 16 -- Share The Celebration[sup.2] took place Oct. 5, inside Disneyland. Miley celebrated with family, friends and fans, performed several songs, and recognized the contributions of Youth Service America, an organization that seeks to improve communities by increasing the number and diversity of young people serving as volunteers.

Beginning later in October, guests can enjoy an array of new attractions at Disneyland Resort, adding to the fun of the Halloween and holiday seasons. On Oct. 24, [sup.3]High School Musical 3: Right Here! Right Now![sup.2] premieres at Disney[sup.1]s California Adventure. The new street show celebrates the upcoming theatrical motion picture [sup.3]High School Musical 3: Senior Year.[sup.2] Pixie Hollow appears in Disneyland on Oct. 28. Entering along a pathway with an enchanted pool, between the entrances of Fantasyland and Tomorrowland, guests are gradually immersed into the community of fairies. Guests will get the feeling that they are shrinking to fairy size as they encounter statues of Tinker Bell and her friends, and spot other evidence of the pixies[sup.1] presence. When guests arrive at Tinker Bell's home, they will meet some of the pixies in person. A preview of the Blue Sky Cellar opens Oct. 20 at the Golden Vine Winery in Disney[sup.1]s California Adventure.

The Walt Disney Imagineering Blue Sky Cellar -- named for the Imagineers[sup.1] [sup.3]blue sky[sup.2] creative process -- displays never-before-seen models and art outlining the concepts and design for the park[sup.1]s coming attractions, along with a video presentation. The showcase will be updated regularly so that fans can stay abreast of developments. Sleeping Beauty Castle will open a [sup.3]reawakened[sup.2] version of its classic walk through time for the December holiday season. Halloween highlights at Disneyland include the 16-foot-tall Mickey Mouse Jack-o[sup.1]-Lantern on Main Street, U.S.A.; Woody's Halloween Roundup at Big Thunder Ranch; and Haunted Mansion Holiday, inspired by Tim Burton[sup.1]s [sup.3]Nightmare Before Christmas,[sup.2] which continues into the Christmas season. In addition, Disneyland Resort will offer special attractions and events for Halloween and for the Christmas holiday season, which gets underway Nov. 21, when the traditional [sup.3]A Christmas Fantasy[sup.2] daily parade and [sup.3]Believe in Holiday Magic[sup.2] fireworks make their seasonal debuts.

The towering Christmas tree appears on Main Street, U.S.A., and the decor and nighttime show surrounding [sup.3]Sleeping Beauty[sup.1]s Winter Castle[sup.2] will be will updated. Additional holiday highlights include the return on Nov. 21 of the [sup.3]It's a Small World Holiday[sup.2] attraction, celebrating holiday traditions around the world. Princess Cruises

Princess Cruises is offering an enhanced Hawaiian cultural experience onboard Golden Princess as it begins a new season in the Hawaiian Islands. Among the onboard features will be demonstrations by local artisans, ukulele lessons and regional cuisine in the dining room. This year, Princess[sup.1] Hawaiian programs will feature cultural presentations and demonstrations, interpretive lectures, folkloric performances, hands-on activities, Hawaiian cuisine, and a number of new Adventures Ashore excursion options throughout the islands. Local artisans and performers will come aboard during select island port calls. Among them will be Niihau shell artists from Kauai. The [sup.3]forbidden[sup.2] island of Niihau is privately owned and largely closed to the rest of the world. Following an ancient art form, the native Hawaiian lei-makers use tiny shells, found only on the northern coast of Niihau, to create pieces that are prized as fine jewelry. Iberostar Rose Hall Suites hotel opened last week in Rose Hall, Jamaica. The new hotel is the second Iberostar property to open in Jamaica, in addition to the existing Iberostar Rose Hall Beach. InterContinental Hotels Group announced the opening of a new $45 million, 118-room Staybridge Suites in Las Vegas. The extended-stay property is the city[sup.1]s first Staybridge Suites hotel. The new five-story all-suite hotel, originally built as a timeshare facility, features two well-designed spacious suite options (deluxe studio and one-bedroom). All suites offer balconies with views of the bright lights of Las Vegas and include in-room DVD/CD players; functional, well-lit work stations with ergonomic seating; two-line speaker phones with direct-dial number; personal voice mail and complimentary local phone calls; and fully equipped kitchens. James[sup.1]s Hotel and Club re-opened in September after an extensive 18-month renovation and restoration. The 60-room hotel in the heart of London[sup.1]s Mayfair district will be operated by the Althoff Hotel Collection. The hotel appointed Tim Pettifer, formerly at Cliveden, as general manager and Michelin three-star chef Dieter Muller to direct the kitchens. Operating six luxury properties in Germany and France, Althoff Hotel Collection has a reputation for high-quality service and gastronomy. Its restaurants are regarded as among the best in Europe with two of them boasting three Michelin stars. Trump Entertainment Resorts celebrated the opening of The Chairman Tower at the Trump Taj Mahal on October 2, 2008 in Atlantic City. The $225 million Chairman Tower will officially usher in a new level of luxury for Trump[sup.1]s Atlantic City properties and is the third in a series of new towers in the city. The first 20 of the tower[sup.1]s 39 floors opened on Aug. 29, with approximately 350 rooms and suites. The entire inventory of rooms will be opened by the end of December 2008. [sup.3]The Chairman Tower puts Trump Taj Mahal ahead of the curve when it comes to luxurious rooms and prime meeting space.[sup.2] The Chairman Tower features 782 guest rooms, including 74 suites - eight of which will be at the Penthouse level and offer full-scale luxury. These suites boast plush amenities and impeccable service for which Taj Mahal's legendary Penthouse Suites are famous. Each room is equipped with a 50-inch high-definition plasma TV, an iPod docking station, wireless Internet access and more. Contemporary rooms range from 425 to 550 square feet and come in three distinct layouts. All feature upgraded comforts and amenities, including large bathrooms, the latest technology, a concealed coffee service area, as well as pillow-top mattresses, premium linens, a refrigerator and a safe. The Chairman Tower suites come in four layouts, the most common featuring a living room and dining area, with one bedroom and private bath. They range from 950 to 1,140 square feet and feature floor to ceiling windows for spectacular views of the ocean.
