Design deadline extended; YARDLEY.

THE deadline has been extended for budding artists to come up with a winning design for a logo for a new east Birmingham organisation set up to boost services for youngsters.

The Birmingham Mail reported last month how the Yardley Community Development Trust was in need of a striking design for its logo to make it stand out from the crowd.

Artistic youngsters could bag themselves pounds 100.

Originally the deadline for the contest was February 22, but it has now been extended until next Tuesday, in a bid to give as many youngsters a chance to clinch the cash prize.

Anyone aged under 19 can enter the competition, and the logo must reflect the trust's work and issues affecting Yardley.

The news comes as the trust, which was set up last September, is currently in talks in a bid to set up a new community centre for youngsters in the Yardley constituency.

Trust chairman Eddie Currall said: "At the moment we hardly have any community facilities for young people in Yardley.

"We're working with a group of young people to try and develop services for them.

"It will mean they will have the services they want and they will play a key role in delivering them."

To enter the competition, send entries to the YCDT, 50 Newells Road, Sheldon, Birmingham B25 2HD. More information is available by e-mailing
