Design Center Sarasota.

When you walk through the front doors of the elegant building that is the new home of Design Center Sarasota, you can tell that the people inside understand good design. This showroom will take your breath away. That's not surprising, given the talent and track record of the firm.

Formerly located in The Meadows, Design Center Sarasota established its reputation over the past eight years, creating the stylish interiors of many of the homes in The Meadows. It is also known for its interior design in models...showcase homes designed for fine builders such as Taylor Woodrow and Monarch Homes, Todd Johnston Homes, Preserve Associates at Misty Creek, BFM Home Designers & Builders and fine models for Christner Brothers and Cannon Construction. A Design Center model always stands apart from the crowd because it feels like home.

Design Center Sarasota is now centrally located at Southgate Plaza. Owners Mike and Cindy Duggan completed an award-winning renovation of a bank and turned it into a studio showroom with fine architectural interior details.

The talented designers at Design Center Sarasota can handle any request, no matter how small (perhaps you only want help in accessorizing your living room) or how large (entire homes, coordinating wallcovering, window treatments, furniture and accessories).

"I believe a future trend in interior furnishings is the boutique-type of studio showroom which features unique items displayed in an interesting mix of style and color," Mike Duggan says. "The bulk of our business still comes from special orders, but we also carry a select sampling of accent pieces, accessories and artwork that work together and can complete the interior of a home. Our showroom is an interesting place to walk through, and we want you to feel as if you can come in, have a cup of coffee and browse. The idea is to offer more service, more flexibility."

The lower level of the showroom is filled with the unique: a coffee table that looks like a stack of oversized, leather-bound books; a whimsical hand-painted side table with a large, hand-painted apple and pear in the center and a matching canvas rug underneath; a lifelike bronze lizard that seems ready to scamper off the end table.

You can walk around for an hour and still never see all the treasures. A feature room will showcase the newest trends in design. On a recent visit, the space was fashioned as a bedroom of warm paisleys: A paisley comforter rests on the bed, and wallpaper and draperies in various shades of reds and greens repeat the theme.

On the upper floor, the designers work one-on-one with clients. The workroom is well-stocked with wallpaper books, a complete line of drapery and upholstery fabrics, and a library of furniture catalogs of the finest quality.

Design Center Sarasota can fulfill all your needs. Let fine design distinguish your home. Call the Design Center at (813) 365-5991, or better yet, visit the new showroom at 500 Southgate Plaza, one block east of Tamiami Trail on Siesta Drive, next to Dillard's, Sarasota.
