This 49th volume in the complete works of Dutch Catholic humanist philosopher Desiderius Erasmus (1466-1536) is the seventh within "ordo" IV, that is, the "ordo" of the works pertaining to moral instruction. Erasmus himself laid down the division into "ordines" for the posthumous publication of his works, each "ordo" devoted to a specific literary or thematic category. The volume contains the </Declamatiuncula, Erasmus' translation of </Isocrates ad Nicoclem regem de institutione principis/>, the </Epistola consolatoria in aduersis/>, the </Oratio de pace et discordia/>, the </Oratio funebris/>, and Erasmus' Latin translation of Xenophon's </Hieron, siue tyrannus/>.
