Desert Island Kirsty picks 007 Kate Moss and Pope.

Byline: By BILLY PATERSON

DESERT Island Discs new girl Kirsty Young has revealed her dream guests Sir Sean Connery, Kate Moss and the Pope.

The Channel Five presenter takes over the long running Radio 4 show today. And she revealed her own discs should she be stranded on an island.

They include Elgar's Cello Concerto, Gorecki's Symphony No. 3, David Cassidy's Could It Be Forever and I Just Can't Help Believing by Elvis Presley.

Her favourite book is the Royal Horticultural Society Encyclopedia Of Plants And Flowers and her luxury item is her new Viking cooker.

Kirsty said: "I'm a little nervous but now I'm just keen to break my duck - to hit my first ball, as it were and make it feel like the programme I do every week."

Desert Island Discs has been on air for 64 years and Kirsty will be its fourth presenter, following creator Roy Plomley, Michael Parkin-son and Sue Lawley, who hosted for 18 years.

Kirsty's first guest will be illustrator and author Quentin Blake.
