A cubic metre of desalinated water is not more expensive, on average, than conventional water, Energy and Mining Minister Chakib Khelil said on Sunday. In a statement to the press on the sidelines of the first National Conference on Seawater Desalination in Algeria, organized in Tlemcen (540-km west of Algiers) by the Algerian Energy Company (AEC), the minister pointed out that one cubic metre of desalinated water costs between DZD 20 and 30 in some regions, and DZD 120 in others, while one cubic metre of conventional water costs around DZD 50.AaAaAa
