A SINGER from Cardiff who wowed Britain's Got Talent audiences with his spin on a Frank Sinatra classic will take his place in the live semi finals this week - and hopes to win the top prize so that his wife's gran can meet the Queen.
Dennis DeMille and his pal Marvin Muoneke - who originally billed themselves The Ratpackers - won a standing ovation from the studio audience and four votes from the judges during their audition when they sang the classic New York, New York.
Now they will be appearing in front of a live TV audience in a bid to win the 2018 series and sing in front of the Queen at the Royal Variety Performance - and that's the reason why 51-year-old Dennis wants to triumph.
"My wife's grandmother, Mary, is 99 and a big fan of the Queen," he said. "She thinks it would be lovely for me to win Britain's Got Talent and perform for her so then she would also get the chance to meet her."
Dennis, who was born in Bute Street, and 22-year-old Marvin, a DIY store assistant from London, cannot reveal which day this week they will be appearing on our TV screens or what they will be singing but this time they will be performing under their own names - DeMille and Muoneke.
The pair originally teamed up after meeting at a pub music night where they were both on the bill and started singing together.
Since their BGT audition, they've had to keep the fact they bagged a place in the live semi finals a secret from family and friends for four months.
"We couldn't tell anyone so it's been a bit of a nightmare," admitted Dennis, who sings at residential care homes for his day job.
Now the pair cannot wait to take to the stage once more and show the judges, including Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden, what they are really made of.
"It will be nerve-racking but we're prepared. We've got more to offer. What we are doing on Britain's got talent is just the tip of the iceberg," added the father-of-one.
