Dennis & Gnasheir; Charles and Camilla star in Beano special edition.

Byline: Nigel Atkins

PRINCE Charles and Camilla have become Bash Street Kids for the day.

The heir to the throne and his wife joined Dennis the Menace and Gnasher on the pages of the Beano.

They were given starring roles in the comic book after visiting the Dundee firm who publish it.

The royal couple also started DC Thomson's new printing press.

Charles and Camilla follow the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall in being turned into Beano characters.

Editor Craig Graham said: "Often we're a little bit nervous because we do, by the nature of things, have to caricature people.

"But they were both absolutely delighted with their likenesses and hugely impressed to be involved with characters like Dennis the Menace and Roger the Dodger."

The couple pass on their passion for organic food, healthy eating and literacy in the comic strip.

Camilla opens the school's new library and even convinces Dennis the Menace to declare: "Reading is fun for everyone, Menaces."

The visit to Dundee also involved a trip to a Prince's Trust centre, where Charles iced cupcakes.
