More women in Denmark die of lung disease from smoking than anywhere else in the world, according to a study published in a Danish medical journal.

The study in Ugeskrift for Laeger said that women with 'chronic obstruction' of the lungs take up about 10% of Denmark's hospital beds. The report also said that the 'epidemic' was likely to spread to the rest of Europe because more young women had taken up smoking.
