Denmark : The Minister of Transport checks digital signal control on the S-path.
Transport Minister Benny Engelbrecht will later take a trip with the S-train later to see the digital signaling system in operation from the train's cab. The new signals make the trains more reliable and can accommodate more trains on the rails.
The red train on Line E runs from Lyngby at 9.37 towards Copenhagen. On board is the transport minister Benny Engelbrecht, who from the train's front parquet must see the digital signal system in operation. The old signals along the rails are taken down, and with the new signaling system everything is now done on a screen in the cab.
We are working on the great work of changing the signals at the Danish railways, and the experience from the S-path shows what great effect it has to switch the old, faulty signals with new, much more precise signals, says Transport Minister Benny Engelbrecht.
It is Banedanmark, which replaces the signals, and on the S-course the new signaling system was first used in 2016 on the stretch between Jgersborg and Hillerd. The new signals cause fewer signal errors and also allow more trains to run on the rails.
With the significant improvements on the S-path that the new signaling system provides, we get a much more solid basis for the operation of the S-trains, which is a green and easy way to transport around, says the Minister of Transport.
It is Banedanmark's expectation that the number of signal errors and consequent delays can be reduced by 50 percent with the new signals. In addition to the train ride from Lyngby, the Minister will also visit the Traffic Tower, from which all S-trains will be managed.
