Denmark : Invest in Denmark Attracts Record High Number of Greenfield Investments.
In total, Invest in Denmark assisted 45 foreign companies with greenfield investments and another 6 with investments in existing Danish companies. Altogether, this secured 1224 direct jobs for Denmark.
Director of Invest in Denmark, Mrs Susanne Hyldelund, says:
I am very pleased that we could assist 51 companies in establishing a business here in Denmark last year. Denmark has a lot to offer in terms of both competencies and business conditions, and it is our job to make it as easy as possible for investors to identify and seize concrete opportunities relevant for their company.
Chinese investor trend
Susanne Hyldelund adds: Not least Chinese investors increasingly choose Denmark as a location for regional headquarters, and the number of jobs created through Chinese investments is the highest ever for Invest in Denmark.
It is the second year in a row that the number of jobs created through Chinese investments exceeds all earlier years. 334 direct jobs as a result of 11 investment projects shows that Denmark is attractive to Chinese investors who are going global.
One of these Chinese investors is the large Investment Group CGIG that sees great potential for Chinese companies to improve and expand their business through Danish competences. They established a European headquarters with a competence meeting centre in Denmark to facilitate networking between Chinese investors and Danish stakeholders.
ICT creates majority of jobs
Danish key clusters comprise cleantech, life sciences, the maritime industry as well as ICT, where the latter accounted for almost half the jobs created.
One of the investors within ICT was Dutch Interxion, a leading provider of co-location data centers, who chose to locate the Nordic headquarters in Denmark to leverage the favourable business conditions.
On top of sector specific reasons, the three factors that most foreign investors emphasize as important for their decision to establish themselves in Denmark are supply of skilled staff, access to European or Nordic markets along with closeness to business partners and relevant companies.
