Demand is high for shopping complex.

DEMAND for space in a multi-million pound shopping complex in Prestatyn is so great that the developers already want to extend their proposals.

In March, Denbighshire County Council approved plans by Stadium Developments Ltd for a massive scheme in Nant Hall Road.

It involves 12 retail units with a total floor space of 13,377 square metres, with the mezzanine floor space occupying 50% of the ground floor area.

But now Stadium has lodged another planning application to double the size of the mezzanine floor, which would mean the ground floor being increased slightly.

In a letter to the authority Indigo Planning Limited state: "Since the permission was granted, the applicant has received a great deal of interest in the site from national multiple, high-quality retailers. These enquiries have highlighted the need for additional floorspace as all the secured mezzanine floorspace has already been allocated to future tenants."

The consultants estimate that extra floorspace could bring in an additional pounds 13.7m in the turnover of the town centre as other shops benefit. The complex is estimated to raise the town centre's turnover by pounds 52m to pounds 63.3m.
