Deli business branches a great hit with customers.

FINE food retail brand Deli at... which specialises in selling regional produce is celebrating the first anniversary of its second branch at Whitley Bay. Deli at... delicatessens offer an extensive range of regional and international fine foods with the aim of providing fine food locally.

David Urwin, founder and owner of Deli at... opened his original shop, Deli at Darras in 2002, building up a loyal following in the Darras Hall and Ponteland areas.

David, a member of the Guild of Fine Food Retailers, said: "With Deli at Darras being well established, the time was right to expand with Whitley Bay being the perfect location. We already had customers who travelled to us from the coast who now enjoy a great selection of fine foods a lot closer to home. Additionally customers at Whitley Bay now benefit from a fresh fruit and vegetable section, Cafe Royal breads and patisseries and a larger cafe area which has proved very popular."

A farmer's son from Northumberland, David was the fresh food sales manager for the North Eastern Co-op covering 150 stores in the North East and Cumbria before setting up on his own. He added: "Today's customer is very well informed and much more selective about where they shop. They are looking for something unique that can offer a more personal approach. Many of our suppliers only supply to independent retailers and most of them are British companies."

Deli at... supports a number of local suppliers including Northumbria Organic Meat, Moorhouse Farm, Doddington Dairy and the Northumberland Cheese Company. With a focus on fresh and locally produced fine products including fresh meat, cheese, bread, cakes and ice cream, both Delis also stock carefully selected imports such as artisan pasta, olives, oils and vinegars. The cafe and take away range incorporates a vast selection of sandwiches including paninis and takes great pride in its fresh coffees with a growing reputation for delicious cappuccinos and lattes made with local organic milk from Acorn dairy.

Another popular service is the wide range of hampers and gift boxes with a wide range of regional, traditional and Christmas selections to choose from. For that extra-special gift, why not create your own bespoke collection and take advantage of a full UK delivery service.

Deli at... is a quality service for North East food lovers, bringing fine food locally. It is now taking orders for all your traditional Christmas fare, including the finest free range turkeys.
