Delhi Police plans drill for its personnel to counter clashes.

AFTER complaints of delayed response in Trilokpuri, the Delhi Police has issued orders to all the 11 police districts to start anti- riot mock drills for keeping the force prepared to promptly counter such situations.

The mock drills will be monitored by the joint commissioners of police ( Jt. CPs) along with the district heads. The top police officers will also inspect the arms and equipment during the exercise.

Delhi Police Commissioner B. S. Bassi held a crime review meeting with all the JCPs and discussed the rising graph of communal tension in the Capital, a senior officer said, adding there were inputs that some ' mischievous elements' might try to trigger tension in the coming days.

" Some of the JCPs had given a suggestion that antiriot mock- drills be started to prepare the police for such eventualities," the officer added.

It is learnt that such operations are being carried out to prepare the police to tackle communal clashes in areas such as Trilokpuri, Bawana, Seelampur, Bhajanpura and Maujpur and places from where such incidents have been reported in the past.

According to the plan, a call will be made in the district unit and the message will be flashed through wireless sets. Later, senior police officers will monitor how promptly the police react to the PCR call. Hospitals will be a part of the anti- riot mock drills.
