Delaware North Parks Services Awarded Contract in Ohio.

DEER CREEK STATE PARK, Ohio.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 28, 2000

Delaware North Parks Services Inc. (DNPS) has been awarded the hospitality and recreation service contract to operate the Deer Creek State Park Resort Complex at Deer Creek State Park in south-central Ohio. The 10-year contract was awarded by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Parks and Recreation.

One of the fastest growing providers of recreation services in America, DNPS will manage the park's 110-room vacation lodge, restaurant, gift shop, lounge, conference center and fitness center; 25 family-style cottages complete with living room, kitchen, private bath and screened porch; and the historic Harding Cabin, a private cabin that accommodates up to nine people. Effective Feb. 1, the contract will add to an impressive portfolio of parks and tourist attractions where DNPS operates, including Jones Beach State Park in Long Island, N.Y., Sequoia and Yosemite national parks and Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex.

DNPS will develop upscale, high-quality menus for its foodservice operations, as well as provide recreational activities, interpretive programs and special events. The modern two-story vacation lodge, featuring indoor and outdoor pools, was constructed of heavy timber and features a two-level dining facility and a breathtaking view of Deer Creek Lake.

Located in prime agricultural country, the 4,800-acre park is five miles south of Mount Sterling and a half-hour away from Columbus. The wide-open fields of the Deer Creek parkland are home to many game animals such as pheasant, rabbit, squirrel and deer, while Deer Creek Lake, a 1,277-acre reservoir, is stocked with large-mouth bass, muskie, bluegill, walleye and saugeye. The park attracts visitors year-round, whether enjoying summer sports such as golfing, swimming and hiking or winter activities like cross-country skiing, ice-skating and snowmobiling.

A subsidiary of Buffalo, N.Y.-based Delaware North Companies, DNPS was formed in 1992 to manage visitor services at Yosemite National Park. Today, the company manages comprehensive visitor services at locations such as Niagara Reservation State Park in Niagara Falls, N.Y., Asilomar State Beach and Conference Grounds in Pacific Grove, Calif., and Roaring River State Park in the Missouri Ozarks. The company also oversees retail operations at Grand Canyon National Park and for the United States Mint in Denver and Philadelphia.

In Ohio, Delaware North subsidiaries also provide food and beverage services at the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport, and Jacobs Field and Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland.
