NFAIS has announced that R. Paul Ryan is the new administrator of the Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC). He has been acting administrator since November 2004.

Previously, Ryan was deputy administrator responsible for daily operations, budget, and personnel. While in that position, he converted DTIC from a paper-based work flow to an electronic environment. Prior to this, he was DTIC's director of the office of user services and marketing. He has held positions with the U.S. Army at Picatinny Arsenal and the Ballistic Research Laboratory. Ryan is a former president and member of the board of trustees of the National Federation of Abstracting and Information Services (NFAIS).
