Defence Secretary sacked on creating misunderstanding among state institutions.

By ISLAMABAD, January 12, 2012 (Frontier Star): The government on Wednesday terminated the contract of Defence Secretary Lt. General (retd) Naeem Khalid Lodhi with immediate effect for gross misconduct and illegal action. A Prime Minister House statement issued here said the Defence Secretary was sacked for creating misunderstanding between the state institutions. Cabinet Secretary Nargis Sethi has been given additional charge of the Ministry of Defence. Meanwhile, sources at the Establishment Division stated that Initially Secretary Ministry of Defence pointed out that the Ministry did not receive copies of the relevant petitions. He, however, went on to submit response to the Supreme Court without having gone through the contents of the petitions. His statement and actions are contradictory. Prior consultation with the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs is mandatory in the legal proceedings and litigation concerning the Federal Government under the Rules of Business. Secretary Defence did not follow these mandatory requirements, the sources said. Secretary Defences reply to the Court, in violation of Governments Rules of Business is a gross violation of the Government Servants Conduct Rules, the sources said, adding, It has also led to misunderstanding between the state institutions.
