Death of Lord Russell.

Lord Russell of Liverpool, lawyer, soldier and author of the anti-Nazi book, "The scourge of the Swastika" has died two days before his S6th birthday.

Lord Russell, a widower who had been married four times, was admitted to hospital at Hastings three weeks ago and it was there he died.

The greatest sensation in hisn legal career came when he was Assistant Judge Advocate General in 1954 and leg-al advLser to the Commander-in-Chiet for the trial of German war criminals.

When he wrote "The Scourge of the Swastika" the Lord Chancellor asked him to withdraw the book, saying it was incompatible with his holding" such a high judicial office-Lord Russell resigned rather than do this.
