Death crash driver may be charged.

THE driver of a car involved in a fatal crash, in which a young North Wales mum died, could face charges, an inquest heard yesterday.

Soldier's wife Anna Wynn Williams was on her way home from work when the smash happened.

The 37-year-old carer died after her Peugeot 106 collided with a Daihatsu 4x4 on the road between Brecon and Crickhowell.

The Pwllheli-born mum of two had moved to Martel Way, Cwrt-y-Gollen, Crickhowell with husband Mark, a Royal Artillery sergeant major from Llanrug.

The couple have two children, Aaron, 13 and 11-year-old Cara.

Mark left the coroner's court in tears after hearing how his wife sustained multiple injuries, including a broken neck, in the midday collision on Mother's Day, March 21.

Powys coroner Geraint Williams said in the past 12 months he had dealt with five deaths at the stretch of road known as The Kestrel Bends.

Mr Williams, who recorded a verdict of accidental death, was told Dyfed Powys Police had now passed the matter to the Crown Prosecution Service, who are currently deciding whether to press charges against the 4x4 driver, Phillip Richard Thomas, 44, of Hillside Llangattock, Crickhowell.

A pounds 1m road improvement project on the A40 trunk road, near Crickhowell in Powys, has now been unveiled by the Welsh Assembly. The Brecon inquest heard since Anna's death, the road has been resurfaced with an anti-skid material. In a separate inquest, held immediately after Anna's, into a crash on the same stretch of road, the coroner recorded another verdict of accidental death.
