Dear Rachael: SECRETIVE SON BEDS AN OLDER WOMAN.
Q I'VE found out that my 18-year-old son is having sex with his 25-year-old girlfriend - and I feel really let down. I thought we had a really open, trusting relationship. I'm a single mum of 36 and he's my only family and in the past we have shared everything.
He promised he would tell me when he was serious about someone but he has barely mentioned this girl. I caught them in bed when I got home early the other day. It seems this has been going on for five months. I'm so angry I can barely speak to this woman. She is far too old for him.
A COME off it, Helen! Do you honestly think your son should have asked for your permission to start a sexual relationship? He is an adult and if he wants to have sex with his girlfriend that's his business.
I'm sure you've had a close, loving relationship - and still will have if you stop acting like a jealous, over-possessive mother. Some things are private and you have no right to interfere. Apologise and try to get to know the woman he loves.
