STERLING - Deanna Bea (Ficksman) Batstone, 66, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Feb. 9.

Mrs. Batson leaves her three children, Jessica McCusker and her husband, Tom, of New Milford, Conn., Meredith Lewis and her husband, Ben, of East Hampton, Conn., and Seth Batstone of New Bedford; five grandchildren, Riley, Owen, Erin and Jamison McCusker and Jace Lewis; her former husband, David Batstone of Norfolk; and her sister, Ruth Dolby of Canton.

She was born in Winthrop, daughter of the late Charles and Alice Ficksman. She earned her teaching degree from Boston University and taught elementary school in various parts of the country before devoting many years to raising her children. She then earned her accounting certificate and spent the remainder of her career performing computer and medical software training, most recently with Hewlett Packard. She lived in Sterling for the last 10 years, serving on several boards in the town.

Mrs. Batstone enjoyed skiing, music and participating in her Toastmaster activities. She was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.

A visiting hour will be held Friday, Feb. 12, from noon to 1 p.m. at Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn, followed by a memorial service at the same location.
