Dean & Deluca now in Rock Center.

Dean & Deluca, the Soho-based food emporium, has leased a 2,100-square-foot store at One Rockefeller Plaza, across from the skating rink at Rockefeller Center, it was announced by New Spectrum Realty Services, Inc.

Dean & Deluca will operate an espresso/cappuccino cafe featuring beverages, light menu selections, and desserts. A spring 1993 opening is planned.

The lease transaction marks a significant change in direction for the center, whose master plan calls for the eventual transformation of the Plaza from banks and airline offices to retail and other non-institutional uses. The Dean & Deluca lease also marks the first time that a food use will operate on the Plaza itself

In addition to this location, Dean & Deluca operates other cafes on Prince Street, in Soho, in the Paramount Hotel on West 46th Street, and in the Guggenheim Museum on Fifth Avenue.

The long-term lease, at an undisclosed rental, was negotiated by Jane Fincke Ellis, vice president, and Edward J. Reilly, assistant vice president, on behalf of Rockefeller Center Management, Corp. New Spectrum Realty Services, Inc. represented the tenant.
