Deadline for gasifying Macedonia prolonged: the project will be carried out by the model of public-private partnership, while selected companies will have to build the distribution grid to end consumers, distribute gas and operate the system.
The deadline, by which companies interested in building Macedonia's gas supply network can express interest, has been prolonged.
Government calculations show that in order to gasify the country, a 650-km long gas supply grid will have to be built. In other words, the selected companies will have to invest 150 million euros.
The project will be carried out by the model of public-private partnership, while selected companies will have to build the distribution grid to end consumers, distribute gas and operate the system. They will be granted a right to run the grid for 20 years with the obligation of contributing one percent of their profit to the central budget.
In the meantime, the results are awaited of whether CPL Concordia from Italy or Aksa Energy of Turkey will build the gas distribution grid in Skopje. Asked where the country will be supplying its gas from, authorities' say the grid will be designed to suit all scenarios.
