Deadline extended for firms to regularise status.
DUBAI--The Ministry of Labour has extended the deadline until the end of this year allowing the firms to regularise their status with regard to the implementation of the rule setting a multicultural demographic balance among the hired labour. The period was set to expire on 1st July this year.
The extension of the period for another six months will provide the companies in the private sector with more time to choose their respective categories specified by the Labour regulations in the UAE.
The extension was announced through a ministerial decision signed by Labour Minister Saqr Ghobash, amending the earlier decision ( No.1187/ year 2010).
This grace period will apply only to those firms registered on or before 31st December 2010, the decision said.
Ghobash said that the decision is intended to give firms more time to modify their status when applying the multicultural standard in recruitment of workers.
Companies in the UAE will be classified into different categories in accordance with a number of criteria, including the multicultural balance among workers.
