Dawn of a new era; ? HS2 could REVOLUTIONISEWEST Midlands within a decade ? Region's leaders back decision after years of uncertainty.
THE West Midlands could be riding a new wave of prosperity by the end of the decade thanks HS2, claim local business bosses and politicians.
Most welcomed this week's longawaited decision by Prime Minister Boris Johnson to proceed with the high speed rail link between London and Birmingham. Much of the groundwork for the first phase has already been started in the region.
After the major announcement on Tuesday, Mr Johnson travelled to Birmingham - by train - to see progress at Curzon Street Station in the city centre.
Speaking to the Post, he said: "What's clear is we can't just do HS2.
"We have to have a better basic commuter rail network in the West Midlands, we have to do better bus services across the West Midlands and across the country - buses are crucial to people's livelihood."
