David's now an Ironman.

Motherwell multi-sport athlete David McMillan warmed up for this weekend's European Triathlon Championships at Strathclyde Park by completing his first ever Ironman event in Austria.

McMillan, along with fellow members of Blantyre-based club G72TRi, is part of the Great Britain team for the prestigious event.

They all earned their places in the squad in a series of tough qualifiers over the past 18 months.

McMillan said:"Although I took part in the 2017 European Championship, it is extra special to have it on my own doorstep and to be part of events going on across Glasgow and Berlin.

"Further it is great to have four of my club-mates alongside me in the GB team.

McMillan added:"A sprint triathlon is at the opposite end of the spectrum to Ironman.

"We all reckon to be finished around the one hour mark on Saturday 11th, whereas in Austria we were racing for over 11 hours".
