David's found great way to stay in touch.

STOCKTON councillor David Harrington says his entry into cyber space to keep in touch with local residents has proved a success.

In April he started to use micro blogging website Twitter in his role as a councillor for Ingleby Barwick.

Cllr Harrington said: "I decided not to restrict the site to registered Twitter users only as I wanted as many people as possible to access the site to see what I do inside the council and at times, outside of the council.

"Many residents have used it to pass on comments so in a way I have used it as a virtual ward surgery, with follow ups to queries responded either by face-to-face meeting, telephone call or email. More and more local residents are creating accounts and the number of residents following me has increased within the last couple of weeks." * To follow Cllr Harrington log on to
