ADATE has been set for the 2016 Borderway UK Dairy Expo at which the finest British dairy genetics and industry innovation will be presented to a global audience.

Harrison & Hetherington has announced that the flagship showcase event, which is now in its fifth year, will take place at its Borderway Exhibition Centre on March 12.

For the second time, the major industry seminar, Total Dairy, will also present an industry forum as part of the expo. This will be held on the afternoon of March 11, at premises adjacent to the main event. Launched in 2012, Borderway UK Dairy Expo has grown significantly ever since, reflecting the increasing interest in and importance of the dairy industry.

Earlier this year, it attracted more than 400 livestock entries competing in around 60 show classes, from which Richard Brown's Richaven Goldwyn Squaw 6 emerged as Champion of Champions.

Around 7,000 people visited the event, which included 135 trade stands sharing educational, commercial and innovation developments. David Pritchard, event organiser and director of operations for Harrison and Hetherington, said the expo remained of crucial importance to the sector.

"From the outset we wanted to celebrate the best of what the dairy industry has to offer," he said. "This I feel we have achieved. We timed the event specifically for spring as there was a gap in the calendar and each year we have attracted more support at all levels.

"We have international judges, livestock exhibitors from across the UK, trade exhibitors and industry representatives from all dairy related sectors and visitors from around the world. The event gives the industry the opportunity to come together to discuss the latest technical breakthroughs and we're delighted to be teaming up again with Total Dairy to extend our commitment to discussing and showcasing trends and developments in the sector at the Dairy Seminar."

He added that, having attracted top-class international judges for the 2015 event, Harrison & Hetherington would seek to do so again.

"Because Borderway UK Dairy Expo is now an established spring showcase for the sector, we are looking forward to announcing another strong line-up of renowned judges for the event," he said.

The Borderway UK Dairy Expo is sponsored by Holstein UK, CIS, Clydesdale Bank, Norbrook, Farmers Guardian and Carrs Billington. The livestock schedule and entry forms will soon be available to download online or through contacting the Harrison & Hetherington Event Office on 01228 406 230.
