UK-based business ISP Datanet announced on Monday (12 September) that it has entered into an agreement with Human Resource recruitment agency Consult Ltd for the implementation and management of a secure virtual private network (VPN) at Consult.

Datanet has installed 2Mp/s ADSL broadband in Consult's offices and 512kb/s broadband in consultants' home offices, with firewalls on the entry to the office network and on the consultant's laptops themselves. The company's offices are connected via a wide area network and remote working consultants can access broadband via a secure virtual private network (VPN).

The new network will enable Consult employees to access its system both in the office and remotely in a variety of locations such as hotels and private meeting rooms. According to Datanet, in these kinds of locations consultants are able to access the office's network through wireless access points.
