DataLabs Announces Clinical Trial Software Licensing Agreement with VA Boston; Massachusetts Veterans Epidemiology Research and Information Center (MAVERIC) Will Use DataLabsXC Software for Electronic Data Capture.

IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- DataLabs announced today that the Massachusetts Veterans Epidemiology Research and Information Center (MAVERIC) of the VA Cooperative Studies Program has selected DataLabsXC software to add electronic data capture capabilities and functionality to the center's clinical development processes.

MAVERIC selected DataLabsXC because of the product's many benefits, including ease of integration, ease of use, ease of adoption, and the ability to maintain and support the software with minimal time and monetary investment.

"The addition of the Boston VA (MAVERIC) to our client base demonstrates that organizations can realize the benefits of electronic data capture within established budgets for current clinical development projects," said Michael Angelillis, vice president of business development at DataLabs. "We understand the budgetary restrictions that many organizations involved with clinical trials face, and our software is a cost-effective way to achieve real business benefits without significantly changing internal processes."

DataLabs customers achieve low total cost of ownership and high return on investment through the combination of DataLabs' innovative product suite and Microsoft technologies, including Visual Studio .NET 2003 and .NET Servers, BizTalk Server and Microsoft Office Visio 2003. The Microsoft .NET Framework was designed from the ground up to support XML Web services, a model for cross-platform, distributed computing based on standard protocols such as XML. Applications built using the .NET Framework can connect with existing systems and packaged applications regardless of the underlying platform. This level of interoperability is a unique benefit of DataLabsXC.

The DataLabs Advantage

Unlike application service provider (ASP) models, DataLabs licenses DataLabsXC software directly to customers, offering the flexibility to adapt the software to unique specifications. In addition, because DataLabsXC features familiar, easy-to-use interfaces based on Microsoft technology, training time and user adoption are greatly accelerated. The DataLabsXC product suite includes:
 -- DataLabsXC Designer
Drag-and-drop clinical study design tool using Microsoft VISIO
supporting reusable visit, form, question and query object libraries.
 -- DataLabsXC Clinical
Clinical data management system with integrated web-based data
 collection and patient tracking.
 -- DataLabsXC Connect
Standards-based connector toolkit enabling integration with external
 applications and legacy systems.

"DataLabsXC forms the foundation for customers to take electronic data capture to the next level for increased productivity and return on investment," said James Langford, DataLabs president and CEO. "The true benefits of electronic data capture will be realized when customers can integrate their clinical systems and processes with other enterprise systems to improve workflow and empower workers with the information they need to make informed decisions faster."
