TELECOMWORLDWIRE-(C) 1994-9 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
UK companies feel that they are getting real business benefits from data warehousing according to new research published by Hyperion in conjunction with Computer Weekly. The research, which involved interviews with 200 UK directors and managers, found that 48% of the respondents had implemented or were actively planning to implement a data warehouse, while 43% had no plans to build one. Of those using a data warehouse, 70% felt that it had delivered the business benefits they had expected, with 81% saying that a data warehouse's biggest advantage was its giving wider access to business data within the company. Another interesting finding was that in 40% of companies using a data warehouse, IT carried out the business analysis function rather than finance.
