Data breached at Detour Gold.

In July, Detour Gold reported its personnel data had been illegally hacked.

In a release, the company said the stolen information includes personal information of Detour Gold's employees (current and former) as well as of individuals to whom Detour Gold made a formal offer of employment.

The company said it was working to eliminate future similar risks and investigating the source of the breach. Police and federal authorities had been contacted.

"We are also taking steps to reduce the risk of further confidential information being accessed by establishing additional safeguards within our systems," the company said in the release.

People who felt they could be one of those impacted were encouraged to contact the company at one of two numbers: toll-free (North America): 1-855-870-8647; Cochrane, Ont.: 647-847-2089, ext. 4367.

Detour Gold owns and operates Detour Lake open-pit gold mine, located north of Cochrane. It's currently the second largest operating gold mine in Canada, with an expected gold production of 475,000 to 525,000 ounces in 2015.
