Garforth will work with the forwards alongside former flanker John Munro.
"Darren was busy with his new house and family commitments last year, but we've remained in contact and he's ready to commit some time to us again," said head coach Mike Umaga.
"He is quite excited by our young pack. I have told him thay are all enthusiastic and willling to learn, and we're delighted to have him back.
"Nuneaton was Darren's first senior club, when he finished at Leicester he came straight back here, and he wants to continue to put something back."
Nuneaton play their first warmup game at Bournemouth next Saturday, August 16, and are away at Pertemps Bees the following week. Their final game is at home to the Army on Thursday, August 28 (7pm).
