Daring Catherine to wing walk the walk for charity.

DAREDEVIL Cath Hayes hopes her fundraising bid will take off.

Cath, 54, of Almondbury, goes up, up and away for a wing walk for Parkinson's UK.

She will take part in Wing Walk Yorkshire on Saturday, May 28 at Leeds East Airport, Church Fenton.

She will be strapped to a harness above the wings of a Boeing biplane for the flight.

Cath was inspired to raise money for the charity as her partner Nigel, 49, was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2015.

Cath, a placement manager at the University of Huddersfield, said: "Nigel is now on medication which is controlling his symptoms very well and this is down to the research that has already taken place.

"However, we are both aware that one day the medication may stop working and so we understand how important it is to continue to fund research to hopefully find a cure.

"I am not an adrenaline junkie and have never done anything like this before so I'm very nervous at the moment but hopefully I will feel braver on the actual day itself.

"I set myself an original fundraising target of PS750 but so far people have been really generous so I've nearly reached PS2,000. It would be great to hit that milestone."

There are still places to join Catherine and sign up for Wing Walk Yorkshire. Registration costs PS100 and the charity asks people to raise a minimum of PS750 in sponsorship. Everyone who signs up will receive a Parkinson's UK t-shirt, a fundraising pack, sponsorship forms and fundraising support. Those taking part will be strapped securely to the top wing of a vintage Boeing Stearman biplane with their own highly experienced pilot. A full briefing will be provided on the day.

People must be over 18 years of age, under 12 stone 2lb in weight and under 6ft tall to take part.

Paul Jackson-Clark, director of fundraising at Parkinson's UK, said: "I would like to say thank you and good luck to Catherine. I hope she enjoys the experience.

"A wing walk is a great way to take to the skies in style and raise vital funds at the same time.

"Everyone who takes part will be helping our work to find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson's."

Catherine has set up a Just Giving page at www.justgiving.com/Catherine-Hayes3.
