Danka Begins Shipping DigiSource 9110 Network Imaging System.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 5, 1999--

Danka Business Systems PLC (Danka) announced today shipments have begun in the United States and Europe of the Kodak DigiSource 9110 Network Imaging System. The product was announced and demonstrated at the CEBIT Fair in Hannover, Germany in March 1999.

Producing unparalleled image quality, and offering exceptional flexibility, the DigiSource 9110 is a formidable challenger to Xerox in the fast growing high-volume digital printing market. Brian L. Merriman, President and Chief Operating Officer, Danka Americas, commented, "Every prospect who has seen or tested the 9110 has been tremendously positive in the analysis. We look forward to this launch as one of the most significant in the history of Danka."

The DigiSource system is designed by NexPress Solutions LLC and assembled for NexPress by Heidelberg Digital LLC. Heidelberg Digital and NexPress, a joint venture of which Heidelberg Digital owns 50 percent, are both headquartered in Rochester, NY.

Heidelberg completed the acquisition of certain assets of Eastman Kodak Company's Office Imaging unit on May 6, 1999. Wolfgang Pfizenmaier, Chairman of the Board, NexPress and President, Heidelberg Digital, stated, "We have been working closely with Danka to finalize a long-term agreement. We see improvements in their performance each day. Danka's turnaround is very impressive."

The 110 page per minute network imaging system offers open architecture for printing applications and a scanner for reprographic work, designed to replace analog copiers. Pfizenmaier said, "We will support Danka with regular software updates that will expand for expansion of customer applications, service, training, engineering support, and a swift flow of service parts."

Given the strong response by customers, the initial launch plan has been modified to more quickly open new cities for installation of the new system. Merriman continued, "we have accelerated the launch to include nearly double the number of U.S. cities prior to the end of the year. Our sales, and service training capabilities have been appropriately strengthened, not only in the U.S. but in our European operations as well."

Added Pfizenmaier, "Each month Danka has increased its DigiSource orders. This is very encouraging to NexPress and Heidelberg Digital employees and it strengthens our future opportunities."
