NORDIC BUSINESS REPORT-18 December 2008-Danish silicon supplier Topsil Semiconductor Materials A/S signs new long-term raw material contract with Wacker Chemie AG(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Danish silicon supplier Topsil Semiconductor Materials A/S (OMX Copenhagen:TPSL) announced on Thursday (18 December) a new long-term raw material agreement with the German company Wacker Chemie AG.

The agreement will secure Topsil Semiconductor Materials further supplies of polysilicon in the period 2010 to 2017, enabling the company to ramp up the Float Zone (FZ) production at its facility in Frederikssund, Denmark.

The exact details of the agreement were not disclosed, but Topsil Semiconductor Materials said that the deal was made on market terms.

"The agreement with Wacker has not only a considerable commercial value for Topsil to implement the company's long-term growth plan. It is also a matter of strategic importance, as the market for raw materials for Topsil's Float Zone production has changed during the last few years, implying that supplies of polysilicon for Float Zone can only be guaranteed in larger volumes by entering long-term agreements with the two global suppliers," Topsil Semiconductor Materials said.

Topsil Semiconductor Materials, headquartered in Frederikssund, Denmark, supplies float-zone silicon crystal wafers and ingots to the electronic industry. The company reported revenues of DKK193.23m in 2007.

One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 8.34 Danish kroner (DKK).
