Dancing Queen; Mum-of-three Laura opens burlesque dance school in city centre.

Byline: Antonia Bannister News Reporter

A MUM has opened a burlesque dance school in the city centre, believing no-one can can-can quite like Coventry can.

Laura Michelle Siedlecki is the owner of Dollhouse Burlesque, one of the only schools of its kind in the Midlands.

The alternative dance company offers women of all ages and walks of life the chance to learn the sassy suggestive dance moves. The stunning 32-yearold brunette hopes that not only will people come to her classes to have fun, but to also grow in confidence.

She said: "Classes are open to anyone over 18. It's open to anyone of any size or ability.

"At the moment there will be one class teaching the basics. Maybe we might have different levels for more able dancers."

She added: "It's about building confidence and self-esteem. "It can also be done for fitness.

I've gone up and down in size since having three kids. I didn't really want to go to the gym because I thought people would look at me. I gained more body confidence doing this."

Laura has a long history of teaching dance and thought starting Dollhouse Burlesque would be an ideal way to juggle having a career with being a mum to three kids.

She said: "I started dancing when I was two years old and began burlesque dancing properly one-and-a-half years ago." "I wanted to find a niche, something more grown up. It means I can be a full-time mum and have a career. I started because of the film Burlesque.

"A lot of people have an off impression of what it is, but it's actually classy, glam and glitzy. It's very theatrical."

As well as hosting classes, Dollhouse Boutique will be offering special packages to hen parties and will be holding regular glitzy events. Laura has signed a deal with the arena's Grosvenor Casino to perform a burlesque spectacular once a month.

The first show will be on September 11 and is free to the public, as long as they are over 18. Laura said: "What we do in the show is a bit more advanced.

"We do dances and variations through the ages from Moulin Rouge to Pussycat Dolls."

Her hen-do packages offer the chance to learn burlesque, watch a show and enjoy the company of half-naked butlers.
