Dana Group to start service center in Libya.

D ana Group, a Dubai-based steel ser- vice center and producer of cable trays, water heaters and coolers, and ERW pipes, is building a new steel ser- vice center in Libya called Delta Steel Fzc. Steel Business Brie ing is informed by the company that the center is located in Misurata, and is going to handle up to 10,000 tons/month of coils when it starts production in August. Delta Steel will handle coils of 1-14mm thick and up to 2,000mm wide. The main source of coils will be Lisco (Libyan Iron & Steel Co) for hot rolled, cold rolled and galvanized coils. Apart from this certain material will also be imported from the Far East, a Dana executive said. Dana Group also has a steel service center with cut-to-length and slitting lines in Dubai, and will expand this operation to cut plates up to 18mm thick and 2,000mm wide next year. Dana Group also acquired a plant in Libya manufacturing water heaters, coolers & home appliances. This has an in-house mini cut-to-length/slitting line for coils up to 2.0mm thick and 1,550mm wide. The plant is expected to use 500 tons/month of steel.
