Dale boss Hill tells players they can earn Spurs - like Kane and Co; FOOTBALL.

KEITH Hill wants his Rochdale squad to be inspired by the Tottenham Hotspur stars who knocked them out of the FA Cup last week.

Dale travel to Walsall this evening, six days after their remarkable journey to the fifth round of the competition ended in a replay at Wembley - with Spurs running out 6-1 winners, a scoreline which did not reflect a contest which was all square at 1-1 at the halfway point.

Hill and the players flew the flag for lower league football superbly and earned a wave of plaudits.

And the Dale chief reckons his players can shine on the big stage regularly if they apply themselves like some of their Premier League counterparts.

"I just want the players to realise how far they can go in the football pyramid," he said.

"If they really want to, if they really want to make sacrificial behaviour, if they want to reflect what some of the players are doing for Tottenham - Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Mousa Dembele, Eric Dier - they haven't just been Premier League players, they have walked the hard miles, they have run themselves senseless in pursuit of becoming great players and I reminded the players that they can do something similar if they take inspiration from the group of players we played against on Wednesday night."
