Dairy Crest and Plysu Reap Benefits of Automated Conveying.

Since the installation of a new Dawson Cable Conveyor system at Dairy Crest's bottling plant in Chadwell Heath, Essex, the company have been enjoying the benefits of a totally automated line at their production facility. Supplied by handling systems manufacturers Dawson, tel:0184 275 3505, the new conveyor system links a Plysu blow-moulding production facility to the Dairy Crest milk-filling site next door.

The Dawson Cable Conveyor makes use of 9.5mm diameter nylon covered steel cables supported on a continuous polyethylene runner. This cable conveyor can carry the polyethylene bottles at a rate of 9000 per hour over the 150m distance between sites, using only a single drive unit. Compared to other systems, cable conveyors are relatively inexpensive to manufacture and install, with quieter operation and requiring minimal maintenance.
