Dad of three who died in house fire named.

BY SHAUNA CORR THE dad of three found dead following a house fire has been named locally as Terence McCann.

His body was discovered following a blaze in the living room of his home in Magherafelt, Co Derry, on Sunday.

The 53-year-old's brother, Fr Henry McCann, said the death had shaken the family.

The Ulster Hospital chaplain said: "Whenever you hear of the death of a brother or a sister, it always comes as a shock.

"Although he hadn't been looking after himself really and had health problems, it came out of the blue."

Mr McCann, a widower and father to three teens, was originally from Moneynick, Co Antrim, but lived alone at Highfield Road, Magherafelt.

Mid Ulster SDLP MLA Patsy McGlone added: "Anyone dying suddenly in such circumstances is an awful thing."

Magherafelt Sinn Fein Councillor Darren Totten said: "It's sad to see the untimely loss of a member of our community under such tragic circumstances. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family."
