Dad collects degree for tragic Karen.

Byline: DAVID MAHER

THE dad of murdered student Karen Buckley has collected her posthumous master's degree.

The 24-year-old was studying occupational therapy at Glasgow Caledonian University when she was killed by Alexander Pacteau in April last year.

Pacteau, 21, was jailed for at least 23 years after admitting her murder.

Karen, of Mourneabbey, Co Cork, was awarded the degree on Tuesday.

The university confirmed: "Karen Buckley was awarded a posthumous Master of Science in Occupational Therapy [pre-registration].

"Her family have asked that her achievements can be celebrated privately."

Beth Mclardie, who was at the ceremony, tweeted: "Karen's dad collected her award and it was so hard not to cry."
