DYNCORP WINS $407 MILLION ARMY CONTRACT IN RECOMPETITION

RESTON, Va., Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- DynCorp has been awarded the premier U.S. Army contract to provide aircraft maintenance at the Army Aviation Warfighting Center, Fort Rucker, Ala. Valued at $407 million, the five-year contract was won in recompetition. DynCorp was first awarded the contract in 1988.
The largest military pilot training school in the world, Fort Rucker has been the home of Army Aviation since 1954. Today, all of the Army's helicopter pilots and most other U.S. and allied candidates are trained there. DynCorp's 1,600-plus employees support the effort providing maintenance and related services for over 500 helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft. The contract is anticipated to include additional maintenance on the New Training Helicopter (NTH) which will be introduced at Fort Rucker this fall.
DynCorp's five-year record at Fort Rucker has been impressive. In 1991, DynCorp was the first contractor to reach the milestone of supporting 1 million flying hours without a maintenance-related aircraft accident. Today, that record stands a 1.6 million and counting. DynCorp's Fort Rucker Division was also the recipient of the Army Aviation Association of America's (AAAA) 1989 Award for Materiel Readiness, an award given annually to the contractor that has made the most significant contribution to the logistic support of Army aviation. Additionally, in 1990 and again in 1992 two DynCorp Fort Rucker employees received the AAAA Award for contributions by an Individual Member of Industry.
According to Paul Lombardi, president of DynCorp's Government Services Group, "This was a crucial win for DynCorp. Not only does it confirm the Army's confidence in our services, it maintains DynCorp's status as the largest and most diversified aviation support contractor in the industry."
DynCorp provides diversified professional and technical services to customers in U.S. and foreign government agencies and in the commercial aviation industry. With 21,000 employees and more than $911 million in annual revenues, DynCorp is one of the largest majority employee-owned companies in the nation.
